ClearlyLedger converts Canadian bank statement PDFs into standardized Excel and CSV exports for accounting review. It handles CAD formatting, month/day and day/month ambiguity, debit and credit columns, card transaction descriptions, Interac e-Transfer references and balance checks.

ClearlyLedger ships dedicated statement profiles for 11 Canada banks. Each profile expects the layout that bank actually prints, rather than treating every PDF as a generic table.
| Bank | Date format | Currency | Typical length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Bank of Canada | DD MMM YYYY | C$ CAD | 4–15 pages |
| TD Canada Trust | MMM DD | C$ CAD | 3–12 pages |
| Scotiabank | DD MMM | C$ CAD | 3–12 pages |
| Bank of Montreal | MMM DD | C$ CAD | 3–10 pages |
| CIBC | MMM DD | C$ CAD | 3–10 pages |
| Tangerine Bank | DD MMM YYYY | C$ CAD | 3–8 pages |
| National Bank of Canada | YYYY-MM-DD | C$ CAD | 3–10 pages |
| Desjardins | YYYY-MM-DD | C$ CAD | 3–12 pages |
| HSBC Canada | DD MMM YYYY | C$ CAD | 3–10 pages |
| Simplii Financial | MMM DD | C$ CAD | 3–8 pages |
| EQ Bank | DD MMM YYYY | C$ CAD | 3–8 pages |
Canada statements in our profile set use DD MMM YYYY, MMM DD, DD MMM, YYYY-MM-DD date ordering and are denominated in C$ CAD. Date ordering is the single most common source of silent conversion errors — a DD MMM YYYY statement read as US ordering produces plausible-looking but wrong dates for every day below the thirteenth of the month, which is why the Canada profiles pin the order rather than inferring it per row.
Export to CSV and import into QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage 50 Canada or Wave — the tools Canada bookkeepers most often run. Amounts and dates are normalised on export so the column mapping in the import wizard resolves without hand-editing.
Conversions are processed in memory, are never used to train AI models, and the workflow is built to align with Canada's PIPEDA for Canada account holders.
Use these canonical pages to compare formats, verify data handling, and move from PDF extraction into accounting review.
