Statement conventions in Nigeria

Nigeria statements in our profile set use DD/MM/YYYY date ordering and are denominated in NGN NGN, ₦ NGN. Date ordering is the single most common source of silent conversion errors — a DD/MM/YYYY statement read as US ordering produces plausible-looking but wrong dates for every day below the thirteenth of the month, which is why the Nigeria profiles pin the order rather than inferring it per row.

Layout quirks these profiles handle

  • Grew into one of Nigeria's largest banks partly through its 2019 merger with Diamond Bank, one of the country's biggest bank mergers, and has since expanded operations across Africa and into the UK
  • NIP and intra-bank transfer references often wrap across multiple narration lines
  • Large NGN values require careful thousands-separator handling
  • AccessMore and POS entries include terminal IDs that should stay in the description
  • Founded in 1990, GTBank restructured in 2021 into GTCO (Guaranty Trust Holding Company), splitting the banking business out from its payments, pension and asset-management subsidiaries under one holding company — a structure several other large Nigerian banks have since copied
  • Amounts use Nigerian numbering — values over 1 million common for NGN

Importing into Nigeria accounting tools

Export to CSV and import into Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho Books or another bookkeeping system — the tools Nigeria bookkeepers most often run. Amounts and dates are normalised on export so the column mapping in the import wizard resolves without hand-editing.

Conversions are processed in memory, are never used to train AI models, and the workflow is built to align with Nigeria's NDPA 2023 for Nigeria account holders.
