Statement conventions in Colombia

Colombia statements in our profile set use DD/MM/YYYY date ordering and are denominated in $ COP. Date ordering is the single most common source of silent conversion errors — a DD/MM/YYYY statement read as US ordering produces plausible-looking but wrong dates for every day below the thirteenth of the month, which is why the Colombia profiles pin the order rather than inferring it per row.

Layout quirks these profiles handle

  • Colombia's largest bank by assets, formed through a 2005 merger of Bancolombia, Conavi and Corfinsura, and one of the few Colombian companies with a New York Stock Exchange listing (via ADRs)
  • COP amounts may use dots for thousands separators
  • Transaction descriptions can span multiple wrapped lines
  • Balance rows and statement headers need to be excluded from export
  • PDF is delivered encrypted — the account holder's ID (cédula) number is the password
  • Founded in 1870, Banco de Bogotá is Colombia's oldest private bank still operating today, and — like Banco de Occidente, Banco Popular and AV Villas — is part of Grupo Aval, though it's the group's founding and largest member rather than one of the acquired banks

Importing into Colombia accounting tools

Export to CSV and import into Siigo, Alegra, World Office or QuickBooks — the tools Colombia bookkeepers most often run. Amounts and dates are normalised on export so the column mapping in the import wizard resolves without hand-editing.

Conversions are processed in memory, are never used to train AI models, and the workflow is built to align with Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012 for Colombia account holders.
